Introducing new writer Lil Hill

What up world. Lil Hill about to do this thing. Here is what you need to know about me.

I met Phil Tran back in ’06 when he was working on Capitol Hill. I used to do some politicking in DC myself. We met in the same historically black church in Maryland where I served in a lay capacity. I have a Masters in Divinity and I do yeoman’s work for the people. I live in PG County, the realest county in the DMV! I also have longstanding family ties in Alexandria and I am in VA quite often. 202 to the 301 to the 703. Believe that.

Phil offered me a platform to express my bountiful thoughts on politics, public policy, and even religious issues, but I do not want to influence the people I minister to in any way on politics so I wanted anonymity. I’m theologically orthodox as in traditionalist, but I am a proud liberal Democrat. Ultimately, God is not a Republican or a Democrat. Faith is above all of that politicking. I have my own political beliefs that usually trend leftward, but I don’t label people as left/right, us/them. They are just people who deserve our respect. Phil automatically gave me the go ahead to be anonymous.

My pseudonym is inspired by the fact that I was brought on board by Phil for equal time to balance out his new writer Big Gipper. I have never met this “Big Gipper”, but what better way to draw a contrast than to have the opposite pseudonym? “Hill” for Hillary Clinton was suggested by Phil since it rolled off the tongue well with “Lil” so I went with it.

What I can say about Phil Tran is that he is an exceptionally bright, independent-minded, hard-working, thoughtful, and caring person. I learn something new every time we kick it in PGC, MoCo, and DC like in the old days and in VA sometimes these days. I’m happy to have this opportunity to engage in what I hope will be a fruitful discussion of the issues.
