This Friday on 88.9 FM WEAA radio from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, I will be guest hosting Listen Up! with Justin Jones Fosu.
The topic is what is a “true conservative”, what is a Republican. I’ll propose a topic that has been popularized as a means test for conservatism. First topic is abortion. Is being pro-life a “true” resemblance of a conservative, and why?
Please call in and contribute to this very interesting topic. 410 319 8888.
Interestingly enough, I have always regarded a pro-life stance as an inherently liberal stance, and I’m pro-life. I’ll expound on this idea in a future article.
Yes please write on it. I believe its a liberal stance as well
As a liberal, I actually agree. It’s my libertarian/individualist streak that always got in the way of my pro-life views. (And I was pro-life until my early 20′s.) But those same libertarian/individualistic viewpoints get in the way of a number of points that are considered progressive absolutes. But most of us, like Walt Whitman says, “contain multitudes.” For all of our labels, applied by ourselves or by others, the love of consistency continues to be the hobgoblin of little minds (and true fanatics on either side.)
