You know those Facebook viruses that we ALL know are viruses? The ones with the ridiculously misleading titles and photos that, when clicked on, show on our walls and sometimes our friends walls? The most recent one I can think of was the Bin Laden death photos.
The way these things work is simple. When you click “like” it shows up on your wall as you “liking” it and sometimes on all your friends’ walls as well. In this story, it is important to understand the distinction between you clicking a link and “liking” it yourself versus someone else clicking a link and it spamming your wall as your friend “liking” it.
It is also important to understand that the particular virus that Jaime Areizaga-Soto, CANDIDATE FOR THE STATE SENATE IN THE 31ST DISTRICT, fell for was not one that spams other walls because if it did, we would have heard about it by now because of the nature of the virus.
Unfortunately, for Jaime Areizaga-Soto, he decided to click on a Facebook virus and this is how the story goes…..
This weekend (we can tell because of the status update immediately before the virus) Jaime Areizaga-Soto saw a virus ad on Facebook that was so attractive to him he decided to click on it.
What virus is this? See the below screen shot of Jamie’s Facebook wall!
In case you cannot read the tiny print, I have zoomed in below:
All I can say is, “WOW!”
Remember earlier when I explained the difference between you liking something and a friend liking something which then pops up on your wall? Well, as we can see from the above screen shot, “Jaime Areizaga-Soto likes a link.”
In short, this was not a friend or Jaime’s that liked the link and it spammed his wall, Jaime himself clicked on the video of daddy walking in on his teenage daughter!
Now, there is no way to be 110% sure that Jaime clicked on this, I mean, someone COULD have hacked his account I guess. However, 99.99999999999999999% of the time, where there is smoke…….
Mr. Areizaga-Soto, if I were your advisor, I would advise you drop out now and save face.

ewwwwww………..
I thought you were done with blogging….
Consider this a farewell gift.
A very gross gift……..
This explains the attraction that Ben Tribbett has for such a person.
FYI- with these viruses you do NOT have to like the particular link in order for it to show up on your wall, it could have been a different link related to the same virus. I don’t know anything about this candidate, never heard of him before, but you should be careful making assumptions about someone based on Facebook viruses.
The good-candidate most certainly clicked on the link. He may not have known at the time, that clinking on this link would result in him “liking” this link and sharing it with his “friends.” This video, along with many others, is a scam. By clicking on the link, the user is redirected to another site – which does not play the video either – where you are asked to fill out some survey. Meanwhile, a post is automatically posted to the user’s Facebook page which broadcasts to everyone in your network that you are a creep. This scam is called “likejacking” and Facebook is having a heck of time preventing their members from looking like creeps. So, no, Mr. A-S may not have “liked” this video, but he definitely wanted to watch the video (and I’m sure was sorely disappointed when instead he was asked to fill out of survey). In light of recent scandals in Washington, I don’t think that this kind of behavior should be taken lightly. Mr. A-S should most definitely withdraw his candidancy in short order.
