Perriello doing his best to imitate the Hindenburg

You know it’s a bad year for Democrats when they’re pulling support and funds from the same guys they lauded as proof they could appeal in all 50 states just two years ago.  Tom Periello is getting destroyed in the polls by Robert Hurt in VA 5, and the New York Times is now reporting that Democratic officials have openly acknowledged that Perriello’s chance of reelection are slim.  Recent polling, as noted over at Bearing Drift, has Hurt up 26 points on Perriello.

After speaking to a few colleagues in the blogosphere, it seems likely that Democrats are going to start pulling resources from races like Perriello’s and dumping them into races like Gerry Connolly’s, where the numbers don’t look quite as bad.  That makes sense – better to cut off an arm than lose the whole patient.

In the meantime, things are looking great for a Republicans in a number of places across Virginia, including in the Fighting 9th, where Rick Boucher’s lead on Morgan Griffith is shrinking – down to 50%, his lowest poll rating since he won his seat.

This looks like it’s going to be a pretty good November for Republicans in Congress.

Pelosi is going to have a crop duster after she gets bounced out of the Speaker’s chair.

Still have to wonder why no recent polls are available for the 11th. For such a touted “bellwether” district, it’s just odd.

  3. You Mom says:

This election will be confirmation, as if it were needed, as to why the Founder’s didn’t trust the people for shit. Bejing must be doing a happy dance about how this Congress will be the running dog of America’s final decline.

“This election will be confirmation, as if it were needed, as to why the Founder’s didn’t trust the people for shit.”

We already got that confirmation. It happened back in November of 2008.

“We already got that confirmation. It happened back in November of 2008.”

DAAAAAAMN! How will I ever recover from your sharp retort?

Probably by pointing out that the election of the President is done through the Electoral College, one of the mechanisms put into place to check the masses. Then I’ll point out that the rubes are going to race towards a bunch of people who are going to try as hard as the can to repeat the economic miracle of the Bush years: Slash taxes + increasing spending = a big part of the mess we’re in. Huzzah!

But hey, I’m announcing here and now that I no longer care. That’s right, if the Helots want to slit their own throats, so be it.

  6. Cato the Elder says:

“mechanisms put into place to check the masses.”

Spot on. Those filthy unwashed masses have no business questioning their betters.

“Then I’ll point out that the rubes are going to race towards a bunch of people who are going to try as hard as the can to repeat the economic miracle of the Bush years”

Teleprompter Jesus still wields a veto pen, at least for the next two years and some change. (get it? change? geez I crack myself up) Kinda hard to see your apocalyptic visions fulfilled while this is the case. Best case? All those shiny new bureaucracies created by HCR and FinReg simply won’t get funded. Boo hoo.

“But hey, I’m announcing here and now that I no longer care.”

If that’s the case then it’s awfully selfish of you to continue to hang around perpetuating your carbon footprint. Might I recommend some buckshot mouthwash? (do it soon though, before the EPA bans lead slugs).

    Troll alert, folks.

  8. Debbie Munoz says:

“D” now stands for desperate, but nothing on the Republican side should be left to chance–don’t ever take anything for granted, especially because they are so desperate.

  9. Your Mom says:

Right-O Debster. When seeking to install un caudillo, nothing must be left to chance. Stuff the ballot boxes in Florida again, if needed! Supress the vote in minority neighborhoods! Whatever it takes to make sure that the rights of rich white people are respected!

And Cato. Dear sweet Cato. You can beg for my suicide all you want, but the founding documents of the Federal government provide for one an only one electoral body assembled by the “people.” And prior to the passage of the Civil War Amendments to the Constitution, when citizenship was based on state criteria, this frequently included property rights. So yes, venerate the Founders for the love of the people. The white, male, property owning people.

Of course, that would mean Sarah Palin would be prevented from voting. So that’s nice.

  10. “Stuff the ballot boxes in Florida again” You mean like Chicago and Ohio for the past three Presidentials? More recently- the democrats learned that absentee voting was where it’s at…and they elected Marsden as a test of it’s success. Look for much more of it in November.

“Supress the vote in minority neighborhoods!” You mean like the Panthers with weapons standing outside of polling places?
You douchebags are so predictably hypocritic, it’s funny watching your twisting.

On a last note: get the story straight – Florida hanging chads were getting crazy enough without the Florida Supreme Court (SCOF)wading in, forgetting the Constitution, and actually executing a law that they made on the fly. Everyone else knew that the Judicial Branch CAN’T MAKE LAWS, but can only judge and interpret the Law. For everyone else who forgot, a history lesson will refresh their memory that it is the LEGISLATION that WRITES LAWS, not the JUDICIAL.
So, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) stepped in due to the illegal actions of the SCOF and struck down the law that the SCOF created on the fly. SCOTUS was acting within it’s constitionally defined course when it invalidated the SCOF action because it violated CURRENT LAW, as passed by the UNITED STATES CONGRESS (legislators)

When will you idiots learn to think for yourselves and stop repeating idiotic talking points??????

  11. Cato the Elder says:

Geez Ma, I was just trying to be helpful.

You libs seem to think half a bottle of asprin will get the job done. Go big or go home.

Since suicide is off the table, could I interest you in an all expense paid one-way trip to Santiago de León de Caracas? No one deserves to be trapped in a despicable nation filled with vile racists that revere a bunch of ancient white slaveowners who got pissed on some grog one day and cranked out all those fancy words on parchment.

Think about it. I just want you to be happy.
